ICANN’s published list for the 2026 new gTLD round holds 39 applications
from Charleston Road Registry Inc. Each one gives registry.google as the
applicant’s website. Google Registry’s own FAQ says Charleston Road Registry,
also known as Google Registry, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Google.
None of the 39 names a replacement string. ICANN’s list marks 20 of them as Brand.
- Marked as Brand, 20:
.alphabet,.beam,.chromebook,.chromium,.deepmind,.fitbit,.gemini,.gemma,.gke,.keep,.lens,.lyria,.nest,.pixel,.sheets,.slides,.veo,.waymo,.wazeand.workspace. - Not marked as Brand, 19:
.agent,.api,.ask,.browser,.cast,.classroom,.find,.gem,.genie,.intelligence,.lesson,.maps,.mcp,.share,.shorts,.teach,.ultra,.vidsand.wear.
The list marks one of the second group, .mcp, as a Community application.
Contention sets. ICANN’s Reveal Day contention set file places 13 of the 39
in a set: .agent, .api, .ask, .cast, .find, .gem, .intelligence,
.lens, .mcp, .share, .slides, .ultra and .wear. Two of those are
marked as Brand. The .lens set also holds an application from Gacrux
Exploration, Inc, and the .slides set one from Intercap Registry Inc. The
.agent set is the largest in the file, with 13 applications.
The other 26 applications are in no set in that file. ICANN publishes an updated list of contention sets on String Confirmation Day, 17 November.
