ICANN’s published list for the 2026 new gTLD round holds 15 applications
from OPENAI OPCO, LLC. Each one gives openai.com as the applicant’s website.
OpenAI’s terms of use for ChatGPT and its other services for individuals name
OpenAI OpCo, LLC, a Delaware company, as the party to that agreement.
None of the 15 names a replacement string. ICANN’s list marks five of them as Brand.
- Marked as Brand, 5:
.chatgpt,.codex,.gpt,.oaiand.openai. - Not marked as Brand, 10:
.agent,.agi,.asi,.daybreak,.deploy,.evals,.mcp,.model,.skilland.voice.
Contention sets. ICANN’s Reveal Day contention set file places nine of the
15 in a set: .agent, .agi, .asi, .deploy, .gpt, .mcp, .model,
.skill and .voice. One of those is marked as Brand: the .gpt set also
holds applications from Link Freedom Group Ltd and Pirin Tablet, LLC. The
.agent set is the largest in the file, with 13 applications.
Two of the nine sets, .agent and .mcp, also hold an application from
Charleston Road Registry Inc., Google’s registry.
The other six applications are in no set in that file: .chatgpt, .codex,
.daybreak, .evals, .oai and .openai. ICANN publishes an updated list of
contention sets on String Confirmation Day, 17 November.
